The role of big data in the global economy is relentlessly increasing, leading to high demand for skilled professionals to effectively manage, process and deeply analyze very large datasets. This master's program builds professional knowledge and skills in critical subjects of data science theory, data collection and management, data analysis, and highly scalable knowledge discovery. Together, these lay a solid foundation for careers in big data science and analysis.
The Master of Science in Data Science is a two-year program. Graduates learn the most advanced big data processing technologies together with the cutting-edge theories and methods that support this technology. Supplementing this, students engage in practical research projects to demonstrate their proficiency with their data science toolbox by designing innovative methods and applications. These skills are highly relevant in fields of digital technology, business, government, security, medicine, biology, natural sciences, and the environment.
The Master of Science in Data Science program is jointly offered by the School of Data Science and the School of Business and Management of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, in collaboration with the Shenzhen Institute of Big Data and the Shenzhen Finance Institute. Outstanding faculty members from the two schools and institutes serve as programme instructors.
