I have already accepted an offer for another master's programs in your school. Now I think this program is more suitable for me. Can I transfer to it?
No, different programmes require separate applications.
Do I need to provide the result from the National Entrance Examination for Postgraduate (NEEP) when applying to the MSc in Data Science Programme?
MSc in Data Science Programme adopts online application system as general western universities, applicants are not required to take and provide the test result of ‘the National Postgraduate Entrance Examination (NEEP)’ to apply to The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen.
Is there any undergraduate background requirement regarding the application?
There is no limitation regarding the applicants’ undergraduate background/major. We warmly welcome applicants from various majors.
Can I apply for more than one programme?
Yes. The MSc in Data Science Programme applicant does not need to fill out the Declaration of Priority Form.
What is the admission procedure?
Applicants shall apply to our Programme through the Online Application System. Once your application documents are submitted and completed, we will start to review them. A shortlist of candidates will be invited to an interview and written exam. The interview is individual interview. Individual interview will be conducted in English for 10-15 minutes and written exam will be 2 hours. After the interview, successful applicants will be notified by the Programme office within 1 month via email.
Note: In view of the COVID-19, whether the written exam and interview are conducted on campus or online will depend on the development of the epidemic.Can I submit any missing admission document(s) or updated document(s) later in the admission process?

Can I still apply for admission if my English test results have not been released? Is CTE-4 or CTE-6 acceptable?
Yes. If you do not have a valid English proficiency test result during the application, you may receive a conditional offer if you pass the interview. However, you should submit the test result before July 15th, 2023. CET-4 or CET-6 is not a valid English proficiency test.
What is the start date for 2023 application?
The application for 2023 Entry will start on 1st September, 2022 and close on 31st May, 2023. Five rounds are scheduled.

What are the programme length and graduation time?
The Programme normative duration is 24 months, and maximum is 36 months, to accommodate difference requirements and arrangements for students who wish to graduate in normative duration, or participate in oversea exchange programmes, or do internships. The School often issues degree certificate in November each year.
What is the instruction language of your Programme?
English is the language of instruction.
Can I apply for course exemption?
Students may be granted exemption from courses and units if they have taken similar or equivalent courses with satisfactory performance (“B” grade or above). Supporting documents such as academic transcripts, course syllabus must be provided. Exemption for a maximum of six units may be granted. Applications will be assessed individually and subject to the University’s final approval.
Can I enroll the course offered by other postgraduate programmes?
Yes. MSc in Data Science Programmes shares courses with other postgraduate programmes. Up to 9 units of elective courses can be taken from other postgraduate programmes.
Will I have opportunity to participate in the overseas visiting / exchange programmes?
Yes. All postgraduate students are able to apply to visiting / exchange programmes provided by the university. The programme list is to be updated every academic year. The Programme duration is 24 - 36 months, to accommodate students who wish to participate in oversea visiting / exchange programmes.
