What are the programme length and graduation time?
The Programme normative duration is 24 months, and maximum is 36 months, to accommodate difference requirements and arrangements for students who wish to graduate in normative duration, or participate in oversea exchange programmes, or do internships. The School often issues degree certificate in November each year.
What is the instruction language of your Programme?
English is the language of instruction.
Can I apply for course exemption?
Students may be granted exemption from courses and units if they have taken similar or equivalent courses with satisfactory performance (“B” grade or above). Supporting documents such as academic transcripts, course syllabus must be provided. Exemption for a maximum of six units may be granted. Applications will be assessed individually and subject to the University’s final approval.
Can I enroll the course offered by other postgraduate programmes?
Yes. MSc in Data Science Programmes shares courses with other postgraduate programmes. Up to 9 units of elective courses can be taken from other postgraduate programmes.
Will I have opportunity to participate in the overseas visiting / exchange programmes?
Yes. All postgraduate students are able to apply to visiting / exchange programmes provided by the university. The programme list is to be updated every academic year. The Programme duration is 24 - 36 months, to accommodate students who wish to participate in oversea visiting / exchange programmes.
Does the Programme arrange internships or full-time work?
We will not arrange internships or full-time work but we offer considerable resources and opportunities for students to identify alternatives and make their own choices. We invite large numbers of high-level practitioners as seminar speakers, which provide opportunities for job-related networking. Supplementing this, the Career Development Center of Shenzhen Finance Institute provides students with all-round, systematic and personalized employment related services, covering all aspects including career positioning, career planning, internship recommendation, job application and interview support. The Programme has achieved 100% employment rate for two consecutive years, and the salary level has continued to increase. The average salary for Class of 2021 is RMB 371,400. Please refer to the employment report via https://mscds.cuhk.edu.cn/d_238.html.When can I receive the degree certificate?
There will be three specified dates for conferment of Master's and Doctoral degrees awarded by the University in a calendar year. These specified conferment dates are 31 March (Term 1), 31 July (Term 2), 15 October (Summer term).
Does the Ministry of Education recognize the degree of this Programme?
Our degree is recognized by the Ministry of Education, which can be certified in the Ministry of Education Service Centre.
